Van Dort Family,Saturday, Week 1
May. 23rd, 2011 03:54 pmIt's time to visit the Van Dorts! Home of the most adorable child Sim I have ever seen in my life! (Is it obvious I adore Victor Van Dort beyond all reason? ^^;)

So, Victor, still think Scraps is the best dog ever?
Victor: . . .He will be once he starts going outside.

Not that Victor's stopped loving his new puppy in the slightest. One of his first wants this morning was "give love to Scraps." :D

Nell: Bye, my new best friend Mayhew! Have a good day at work!
Uh, Mayhew's over there, Nell. Unless you've got an imaginary friend by the same name.

Victor, Scraps, stop being adorably cute. You're going to give my readers cavities.

Scraps is a lying liar who lies -- his hunger bar barely has any yellow on it at all.

William indulges him anyway. Though I suppose a dog named Scraps should eat table scraps. . .

Study party! Well, sort of -- I'm trying to get Nell to the point where she doesn't burn every meal she makes, and Victor genuinely had a want to play the piano. (Now he's acting Victorish!)

While his family gets their skill on, William visits the newly-renamed Van Dort Fish and gets his fish on. Without any prompting from me, even.

A few hours' fishing yields a catfish, a jumbo bass. . .

And a boot. *facepalm* You can stop catching those anytime, Will.

Back at home, Nell makes it her mission to get this dog to go outside.
Nell: Filthy creature! You'll do your business outside, or else you'll live there! Ugh, why did I let William get this animal. . .

Scraps expresses his frustrations by singing the blues to Victor's piano playing.

Feeling the need for social interaction, Nell invites Henry Liddell over, along with Cheshire and Alice. Henry warns that not all of them may make it -- while I assume this means Alice will stay home, it actually means Cheshire is (or maybe he's at work). This works for me!

While William talks business with Henry in the background ("Oh yes, I own a very successful cannery on the mainland!"). . .
Victor: Hi! I'm Victor!
Alice: Hi! I'm Alice!
FINALLY.

Alice: I know my geography very well! London is the capital of Paris, and Paris is the capital of Rome. . . .
Victor: I don't think anybody's gonna get that joke unless they've read the original book.

Nell comes out to chat with Henry while William turns his sights to entertaining Scraps. Socialization ahoy! Mayhew also shows up shortly after this, with a promotion to Executive Assistant!

Victor + Alice: Miss Mary Mack, mack, mack, all dressed in black, black, black. . .
This is officially the entry of adorable.

Victor: I'd love to meet all the Looking-Glass Land insects! Will you take me someday?
Alice: If I can talk Mum and Dad into getting a full-length mirror!

As Alice steals Victor's easel for a bit, I go ahead and buy a TV and couch to fulfill one of William and Nell's wants. Dunno why they're so desperate for a TV, but whatever, it keeps William from aspiration failure. (Note to self: NEVER pair Fortune and Pleasure as Aspirations again! He's impossible to keep happy!)

Nell sends Henry and his daughter home after a successful visit. You know, it's kind of nice to have one "verse" where the Van Dorts and Liddells get along. I'm always writing them at odds in my fanfiction. (Then again, Nell's always butting heads with the aunt and uncle I created for Alice, not Alice's actual parents. Maybe that's the difference.)

I decide to indulge Victor's Tinkering hobby and have him play with blocks for a while. He builds some nice structures, no?

And we close out this entry with Nell watching the new TV, because someone's got to.
Perhaps not the most exciting of entries, but hey, they did more than the McFlys, right? And I finally have Victor and Alice as knowing each other! Next update, we visit the Liddells and see how they are. Perhaps Alice will get that full-length mirror. . . .

No, that's all wrong, I'm certain!
Great stuff.

Since it lives in perpetual passion:
Its taste in costume is entirely absurd -
It is ages ahead of the fashion.

Which is constantly carries about,
And believes that they add to the beauty of scenes--
A sentiment open to doubt."

Date: 2011-09-30 09:09 pm (UTC)Oh, in Alice's canon? She might vanish away, but it's not going to be softly. Those bastards SCREAM. (Of course, the actual snark isn't much better. Pure evil fish.)
