Hi again! Sorry about the pause, but I recently started college again, so finding time to play Sims is a little trickier than it was before. However, I had a spare hour today, so let's check in with the Liddells.

ImageFra.me
We open with Henry in his longjohns, reading up on violins. Aren't you happy you follow me?

ImageFra.me
Henry demonstrating the "drum on leg" idle interaction for those obsessed with Music & Dance. An odd thing of note: Henry doesn't have one Creativity skill point. I gotta get them more easels, at the least.

ImageFra.me
But hey, he's doing okay for himself -- as Cheshire and Lorina talk business behind him, Henry finally scores himself an Education job! (I was holding out for this because the real Henry Liddell was the Dean of Christ Church at Oxford.) He then promptly broke the computer. *sigh*

ImageFra.me
. . .Lorina, you may not want to heartsfart when your husband's right there. Also, CHESHIRE?

ImageFra.me
Leaving Cheshire to study Mechanical (as I'm hoping to avoid hiring a repairman for the computer), Henry and Lorina head over to the Micro Mall. Their missions: buy food. . . .

ImageFra.me
And clothing. Both are carried out with speed.

ImageFra.me
Lorina decides to try a gyro for lunch. It looks more like a soft-shelled taco to me, but what do I know. (Note: I may in fact be wrong on what I think a gyro is. It's a long sandwich, right? Because I believe they're "subs" where I live.)

ImageFra.me
Henry prefers to spend his time admiring store signs. I guess that is a pretty set of flowers on that one sign there. . . .

ImageFra.me
I decide it would also be good for them to know more people outside the family, so Lorina meets Tiffany Zarubin and Henry Patrick Das. Neither conversation lasts all that long, however.

ImageFra.me
As the Liddells head back home, I reflect on how much easier life for them would be if they didn't have to go down the street to cross it via exit portal. (And before the "walk to lot" feature, they would have had to use a TAXI to get to the mall. Remember those days?)

ImageFra.me
Waiting for everyone back home is a small skilling session. Healthy minds, healthy bodies, all that good junk.

ImageFra.me
Cheshire takes a moment off of reading up on Mechanical to call the Pet Adoption Agency. Lo and behold, Dinah has joined the family!

ImageFra.me
She wastes no time making herself at home on the cat tower.

ImageFra.me
Lorina: "Who's a good kitty? Who's a good kitty who won't destroy all our belongings?"
Dinah: Eh, your stuff isn't high-end enough to scratch to death yet.

ImageFra.me
This seems. . .I want to say "meta," but I'm not sure if that applies. Hmmm.

ImageFra.me
Dinah has apparently picked up some habits from Scraps and decides to chase her tail. I am very amused.

ImageFra.me
Alice comes home, and -- DEE?!
Uh, okay, guess kids at the orphanage need to go to school too. But after getting Dinah, this just weird.

ImageFra.me
Dee: "Uh, yeah, I don't really have a house anymore. Part of it burned down when my father tried to make hot dogs and got trapped in a bunch of kitchen chairs. Also, your cat used to be my cat."
Awkwaaard. . .

ImageFra.me
Despite this, Alice and Dee actually manage to bond a little. "Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack. . ."

ImageFra.me
Alice has a vested interest in making sure Dinah stays off the furniture.

ImageFra.me
Also in teaching her how to dance.

ImageFra.me
Once she's wrung all the amusement she can out of the cat, Alice goes upstairs to get into a more appropriate dress before asking for homework help. Now she looks like an Alice.

ImageFra.me ImageFra.me
Studying into the night gets results. Alice looks like she's catching up on her etiquette lessons in the second picture. "Yooour Majesty!"
"No, no, try it again. . . ."

ImageFra.me
You know, if there was ever a Victorian kid who'd play with a rocketship, it would be Alice. "And then the Hatter and the Hare went to the moon, only to discover it wasn't really made of cheese."

ImageFra.me
We end our visit with a rather cute picture of everyone in the family conked out. And though it's hard to tell here, Dinah happens to be dreaming about Scraps. Man, next door to each other and still Victor and Alice haven't met. . . .

And that's that foray into the Sims world! Next up (when I get the chance), the Garfunkles! Who will not be getting a pet as they have no room for one.

A gyro (http://www.mancusospizza.net/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/GYROS_SANDWICH.331163617_std.jpg) is a Greek pita sandwich (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyros) filled with meat and lettuce and veggies and sauce. Om nom nom...

I'll have to see if anyplace around here sells them.

Thinking back on early Sims is WEIRD, isn't it? I can't believe I was satisfied with the base game back in the day. (And considering Sims 1 is like -- whooooa.)

XD Poor Dee.

When I bought The Sims 2 and tried playing it briefly, it was clear my computer couldn't handle it. It was so choppy as to be almost unplayable... but I played it just long enough to see that I was never, ever going to be able to play TS1 again. So I had to get a new computer.

I still have fond memories of my first Sim visitor, though... Mortimer Goth, wandering into my house and dancing to my stereo for nine hours straight. Good times.

I know! I find it near-impossible to think about Sims without Aspirations nowadays. Not to mention the graphics. . . .

*snork* I don't remember who my first Sim visitor was (probably one of the Goths), but I do remember going absolutely NUTS for the magic system in the first. Makin' Magic was my favorite EP ever. Which is why I was so pissed off a few years back when Apartment Life was released and my old computer was refusing to run my game. "Apartments? I don't need that -- THEY'RE BRINGING WITCHCRAFT BACK?! DAMN IT!"
