Van Dort Family, Friday, Week 1

Oh look, it's the other family I lavish waaaay too much attention on. Of course, they've got a business to start up, so you'll have to cut me a little slack. Onward and upward!

Hmmmm, Victor's playroom has received a bit of a makeover. . . .

Uh, Will, she's not even doing anything at the moment. Also, it's a chess game -- does it really warrant enthusiastic cheering?

Okay, the number one reason I take so many pictures of this house is because Victor is the cutest little boy Sim I've ever had.

Awww, honey, don't be sad! You just need a bit of Cooking skill! (Seriously, look at that face. Don't you want to just hug him?)

Breakfast isn't a total wash -- Victor does make best friends with his father before he has to catch the bus.

Like mother, like son, I guess. Nell probably wishes they had their own personal chef.

As Mayhew got his needs up, I decided to have William take a stab at treasure hunting. Attempt number one got us. . . .

The map to the Hidden Burrow at Three Lakes resort! What the hell, all my other Sims in my other neighborhoods find are rocks!

Attempt two yields a less impressive bone, but hey, it allows me to sell back that chew toy I bought.

William decides to have Mayhew take him to the Shop Lot/Van Dort Fish this time. After all, Mayhew technically is their carriage driver.

Once there, the boys park themselves by the pond and commence fishing. Come on, catch some big ones!

*facepalms* Not YOURSELVES, some big FISH.

That's more like it -- Mayhew snags himself a lovely blue catfish.

While William gets both a jumbo bigmouth bass and a jumbo blue catfish! And a Bronze Fishing badge to boot.

The current catch is lined up on the shelves. Looks like they'll be ready to open officially soon.

Back at home, Nell chats with Rosemarie. "Spellbooks? Victor has a spelling book for school. . . ."

The adults are keeping themselves occupied, but who is William calling on the phone?

Why, it's the pet adoption agency! And look who's with them -- Scraps! You remember Scraps, right? From when I horribly killed an innocent Sim to doom a little girl and her pets to the adoption pools?

Mayhew is the first to interact with the new family pet. "Who wants a treat?"

Scraps isn't sure if he approves of this big yellow thing parking outside his new home.

Victor brought home a friend -- Carey Garfunkle! Apparently Carey isn't fond of -- chili? Tomato soup? Bowls of pasta sauce? Whatever it is, he does not care for it.

The hell, Scraps? How'd a tiny little dog like you knock over that big garbage can?

William provides discipline! "No! My wife wasn't in favor of this, and we don't want her to have more reasons not to like you!"

Victor and Carey have some fun times together. . . .

But as soon as Carey skedaddles, Victor realizes there's a new resident. "Hi doggy! Aren't you a good dog?"

Kidlet and puppy playing some fetch. Ye Gods, that stick is bigger than Scraps.

There is also razzling to be done. "Whoo whoo hehehehehe!" Also MORE RAIN.

Victor gladly takes responsibility for the newest member of the family.
Victor: Scraps is gonna be the best dog ever!
I think the rest of us will reserve judgment until he's housebroken, Victor.

Scraps is already settling down nicely into his new life. And he really likes that nice fresh bone William dug up.

As the rest of the family heads to bed, Victor concludes his day with crayon scribblings. Too bad you can't do custom ones of these, that would be cute.
So yes, one pet down! In our next update, the other will find herself a loving home. We hope, anyway.

Date: 2011-02-12 01:43 am (UTC)I feel similarly about the Burned Muffin of Best Friendliness.
It's funny watching the puppet people flop about like puppets when they fish.
I think Carey disapproves of spooning lava.

Except when you want them to actually catch something so you can open up the shop already. Though it is still a little amusing. . . .
Well, who wouldn't?
