Van Dort Family, Thursday, Week 1

Time for another kidlet to leave toddlerhood! Actually, a lot happened with the Van Dorts today, so let's dive right in.

Proof that Inkwell Secundus will never in a million years follow canon -- Victor and his mother have just become best friends. (Seriously, if you've seen Corpse Bride, you'll know how unlikely that is.)

Time to grow up! Why so early, you may ask? Well, Victor's older than Marty, and I'd like to keep the age gap. (According to the CB art/behind the scenes book, Victor's 19, while Marty's 17 in BTTF. And an interesting factoid for you: Johnny Deep and Michael J. Fox happen to share the same birthday -- June 9th.)

Is only one person allowed to celebrate at a time or what? The McFlys were much more enthusiastic.

Oh, God -- I will miss you, absolutely adorable toddler!Victor.

Our last shot of Victor as a wee one, then --

It's still-freaking-adorable-gym Victor!

Oh, like you're that much of a prize yourself.

Here we seelittle lord Fauntleroy Victor in the clothes Nell picked up for him earlier. Where are you off to in such a rush, cutie?

Victor: School. You grew me up just in time to catch the bus.
^^; Whoops. My bad.

Just another typical day in the Van Dort household.

Well, actually, no, it isn't. Not only has Victor grown up, Mayhew's gotten a Business job as a Mailroom Technician. He's practicing his Charisma for future promotions.
Mayhew: I am opposed to oil spills that may wreck our fishing industry! I'm not just saying that because my boss owns a cannery!

What's William doing on the computer, you ask?

Why, buying the land for that cannery! Or, well, a fish shop. He's purchased one of the little shop lots I have in the neighborhood. I'd always intended him to own his own business -- now that Victor's in school, we can get a proper start on things.

William also gets a money tree, because buying Shop Lot (look, sometimes you can't think up funny names) really drained the family finances. Not to McFly levels, but they no longer have the biggest bank account on the block. (I think.)

William goes to take a look at his purchase. Shop Lot (or, as it will be renamed, Van Dort Fish) is a pretty simple lot. Tiny starter store, and a pond in the back corner for stocking purposes.

Can't sell fish without having fish, right? Besides, you're a Nature lover, it feeds your hobby.

Oh, come on, you cast perfectly twice before this. (And then he did it again on his very next cast. *facepalm*)

But he IS successful in his aim. He catches two blue catfish!

And a boot. Well, it's an extra 15 simoleons in your pocket.

At home, Nell calls up Rosemarie, our cougar Good Witch, and makes friends by chatting about money. I fail at making Mean Sims, really.

Snrrrk -- he started to do this autonomously, but the action canceled itself. I decided to make him go ahead with it anyway.
William: Good skunk. I'm a friend to natu--

William: GAAAAH!

William: Can't breathe. . .smell is overpowering. . .
Well, maybe you'll think better of trying to pet the skunk right after you've had a bath.

. . .You have something you want to tell me, Nell?

Nell wanted to meet someone new, so I had her greet this chick. They promptly did this. I am amused.

Oh Victor -- you really ARE cuter than kittens duct-taped to puppies (as someone on devART declared).

Time for homework! Mayhew helps out because Nell's busy socializing and William's more interested in an autumn swim. THIS is probably more like movie!Victor's childhood.

Victor is a good Simlet and gives me no trouble with learning to study.

Scribble scribble -- gotta build up that Creativity, you know. He may be a Victor who likes to tinker, but I'll be damned if he doesn't draw and/or play piano as well.

Just like that, buddy. I intend to send you to university on a music scholarship (so to speak) -- don't let me down!

Um -- if the house doesn't burn down first. I've been getting more rain and thunderstorms in my Sims games these days. . . (Luckily the fire was extinguished pretty quickly.)
Yeah, uh, if it isn't obvious, I really like the Van Dorts. ^^; Next time, we'll visit with their next door neighbors! Everybody likes the Liddells, right?
