Van Dort Family, Wednesday, Week 1

On this installment of "Visit a Community Lot Week," the Van Dorts are kind enough to show us the local community beach. And also get their toddler some much-needed skills.

Despite it being early morning on a crisp fall day, Mayhew decides it's the perfect time to go swimming. Who am I to argue?

William makes progress on Victor learning to speak. Man, I feel sorry for this toddler (and myself) -- learning skills without Smart Milk is tough.

Hello there, pool interaction I hadn't seen before! I love discovering the stuff I was missing out on back when my desktop decided it wasn't going to play the game anymore.

Doesn't it figure that, right after learning how to talk, Victor asks for something? :p

Er -- that's actually a mystery novel someone was reading. Where are you getting teddy bears, William?

Nell checks to see if she has something stuck in her teeth.

Oh, look, it's good old "Congratulations for being hot!" Well, I suppose it's a nice gesture on William's part.

Victor is potty trained! Mayhew looks less than impressed.

Well, easy to see who wears the pants in this family.

Your mouth is not one of the holes that peg is supposed to go in, Victor.

Nell had a want to go to a community lot, so I had her take the carriage and proceed down the street to Inkwell Secundus Town Beach. Nice little place, right? (And if you're wondering what that little changing room is? You can't see it, but there's wheel decorations on the sides. It's a bathing machine. XD)

Nell immediately heads for the sand. Don't ruin your dress now.

It's a sandcastle! Uh, sort of. Being as she's low Creativity, this is the best she can do.

Nell decides to buy a new necklace for all those formal events she's sure to be invited to.

Also a set of everyday clothes for Victor, when he becomes a child.

Lady, you can't get upset at Nell starting a conversation when YOU greeted her.

*gasp!* Awesome glowy sunshine of power? Rosemarie's here!

I make Nell go over and say hello -- not for her sake, but for her son's. I have this image of Victor as awkward teenage witch, and if Rosemarie's already a family friend. . . .

They got on very well, especially when the talk turned to money.
Rosemarie: Well, I say, you can never have too many simoleons.
Nell: *glee*

Feeling peckish, Nell samples some Luau Ribs before returning home. I'm saving the Pineapple surprise for if/when they go on an actual vacation.

Back at home, Victor gets his first taste of neglect. Poor little guy, all hunched over like that. . . . I did try to have someone bring him up to his crib, but the interaction kept timing out as Victor went to the play table.

Nell is unconcerned, judging by her behavior. She still has no Victor-related wants. At least William's interested in seeing the kid grow up well.

Nell wanted to make friends with Gary, so I had her call him up. "I've never even heard of 'Call of Duty 4' OR 'Halo 3!' How should I know which is better?"

Eventually, there were sleep times, and Victor woke up long enough to be taken to his crib. Early Thursday he awoke, and I decided to have Mayhew go ahead and teach him the nursery rhyme. What the hell.

Success! Now Victor's not lagging behind the other toddlers and can grow up well. (I honestly do worry about these things.)
And that's it for them. Our tour will continue once I get around to playing the Liddells.
