Our family -- this one's taken in front of their house because they're one of two families who had a merged-in member (the other was the Liddells). These guys have custom out the wazoo -- custom skin (obviously), custom clothes, custom hair -- very little that's natural here! Let's have their vital stats:

Their house! The Van Dorts are lucky enough to get a mansion -- I found this in the Lots & Houses bin and thought it would be perfect. They're the only family to get a money cheat because of this. The bottom level is all living rooms (kitchen/dining, bathroom, living, ballroom, Victor's playroom, hidden room), while the top is all bedrooms (biggest with the double bed is William and Nell's, the one with the easel and single bed is Mayhew's, and the remaining room is Victor's).
Mayhew and William appear to be getting on well. General friendliness, or is Mayhew sucking up to his boss?
Nell stuns me by autonomously snuggling Victor. I thought you were a lousy mother, Nell!
Then again, who can resist that face? Honestly, I think Victor is the cutest toddler I've ever had.
As the adults continue to socialize with each other, Victor is left in his playroom. He chooses to play with blocks, and throws me for a loop by showing his OTH is Tinkering. Seriously -- Doc gets painting, Marty gets catching butterflies, and Victor gets playing with tools? Something somewhere got crossed in my game.
The adults amuse themselves. Given this is twice William's chosen to jump rope autonomously, you think his OTH would be Fitness. Nell's in the background, banging away on the piano.
Mayhew desperately wishes she would stop.
Will decides to interact with his son. I haven't yet seen Nell roll up any wants to interact with Victor. Will did want to tickle him on the first day. Then all his thoughts went to jobs and money and such.
The welcome wagon arrives, and -- it's the ENTIRE LIDDELL HOUSEHOLD (minus toddler Alice, of course). I laugh and brace for impact.
Aaand -- Will greeting them doesn't set off the apocalypse. Huh. I'm so used to Van Dorts not liking Liddells in my fanfic, it's weird to see them not fighting.
Nell, do you really think this is an appropriate topic to discuss with the Dean of Christ Church in Oxford?
Mayhew decides to start walking lessons with Victor -- it's the kid's major want, and they have to start early since Victor isn't likely to get smart milk anytime soon. I suck at fulfilling these guys' wants.
While Mayhew does the hard parenting work, Nell chats with Henry Liddell over a game of chess, watched over by Cheshire.
Cheshire eventually leaves the chess-watching to William and -- goes out and catches butterflies. Did they add to the things Sims could do autonomously in these later expansion packs, or do I just micromanage my Sims lives too much?
Will is inspired by Cheshire's example and goes birdwatching. Turns out his OTH is Nature. Maybe that's where Victor gets it from?
Potty-training the toddler. I don't think my Sims ever change a diaper unless they absolutely HAVE to.
Nell shocks me again by responding positively to Victor asking for attention. I have to remember my Sims game is not like my fanfics and head canon. (Though, really, I have yet to notice her really acting like a mean Sim at all. Does her Popularity Aspiration cancel it out?)
I have Victor play a little on the xylophone -- his OTH may be Tinkering, but I'll be damned if I neglect Music & Dance in his case. Besides, I make all my toddlers earn at least one point in everything they can. (Victor's first wants were all about earning skill points, actually -- he's so a Knowledge Sim.)
Early Tuesday morning, after being dressed (I'm trying to break my habit of toddlers always being in their pjs), Victor's left to his own devices. He promptly goes and snuggles with his bear. Awwww.
William's turn at potty-training. All the adults pitched in on this toddler skill.
Fall's skill-building boost FINALLY kicks in, so Mayhew resumes walking lessons. Williams unsuccessfully trying to find a job upstairs -- I want him in the Business career, but it's not coming up. I just want a little more money before he starts his fish stand, darn it.
Nell's feeling social, so she chats up this guy who passed by their house. And doesn't do one lousy thing to him. Nell, if the best you can do is stealing papers, you kind of fail as a mean sim.
He's not admiring her -- they're Networking, and he's offering her an Athletic job. I laugh my ass off and refuse. They've still got plenty in the bank to get by.
Victor having toddler mush. Toddlers need some variety to their diet. Besides, if I can't have smart milk, I might as well get some use out of the high chair.
Victor's afternoon nap. OMG so cuuuteeee
I decide to fool around with the interactions of the medicine cabinet mirror and have Nell wash her face. Yeah, big whoop, you all say, but remember, I'm new to Apartment Life. This still holds interest for me.
Sure -- you have him take two steps, and suddenly you get all the credit for teaching him how to walk. That's the Nell Van Dort I know.
Much like the McFlys, we end on early Wednesday morning toddler bathing. At least the Van Dorts had a tub handy.
