And finally, the last playable family on the island, and another with a rather unusual canon. Let's meet this pair of roommates, shall we?

This is Steve & Gary Turret, best friends. If you read my entry on Dee's entrance into the adoption pool, you'll know that these are my other RP characters who aren't human. Steve & Gary are turrets from "Portal," specifically the two seen in this machinima: A Day in the Life of a Turret. Steve's the Halo 3 fan, Gary the Call of Duty 4 fan. I found the machinma hilarious, and the two wormed my way into my headspace. Designing human forms for them in Sims was pretty easy, as I'd always planned for them to gain some. Making Gary black was kind of a random decision, but at least it adds some color to the playables. They're in custom clothes, of course -- white to represent their turret forms. And the vital stats:
Steve Turret:
Personality: 2 Sloppy, 8 Outgoing, 1 Lazy, 9 Playful, 5 Grouchy/Nice
Zodiac Sign: Libra
Primary/Secondary Aspiration: Pleasure/Popularity
Lifetime Want: Have 50 1st Dates
Turn-Ons/Turn-Off: Brown Hair, Unemployed/Hard Worker
OTH: Nature
Career: Culinary
Gary Turret:
Personality: 3 Sloppy, 8 Outgoing, 2 Lazy, 7 Playful, 5 Grouchy/Nice
Zodiac Sign: Libra
Primary/Secondary Aspiration: Pleasure/Knowledge
Lifetime Want: Have 50 1st Dates
Turn-Ons/Turn-Off: Black Hair, Athletic/Hard Worker
OTH: Games
Career: None
Home: 6 Autumn Way

Their house -- one of the townhouses that came with Nightlife. It's a bit small, but considering they're currently all about bachelorhood, they should be okay.

They were all about chatting with each other when they first arrived -- how appropriate for lifelong (if sometimes vitriolic) best buds. "So, violins -- weird or what?"

After Mr. Humble delivers the computer, Gary plays some SSX-3 while Steve gobbles down watermelon.

The welcome wagon consists of George and the two elder Van Dorts. Let's see how they get along.

Pretty well, actually. The TV is of particular interest to everyone -- they're watching a werewolf movie. :p

Huh. Maybe I spoke too soon. "I don't want to get involved with anyone who may be in trouble with the law!"

William is thus left to the TV while Steve chats with George and Gary with Nell. Gary: "I'd love to be a warlock -- they get awesome hats." George: "So, you stir the soup for five minutes, then. . ."

Steve looks for a job while Gary continues to keep Nell occupied. Nothing of interest to either boy, though. Also, George, that easel is for Gary.

After their company leaves, Gary broadens his mind via the Yummy Channel while Steve takes his turn with SSX-3.

They decide to try a bit more intellectual gaming. "So, Steve, you think that Van Dort gal was wearing too much makeup, or is she really just that pale?"

I send Gary out to look at the stars, risking possible death by meteor to try and see if Science is his hobby. No dice -- I fear I've got Nature Sims again.

No, Gary didn't start a new painting of his own -- he's ruining George's. For some reason this assigns it to him -- at least I don't have to waste the canvas.

Tuesday opens with the boys eating up their leftovers. Poor Sims -- they have to eat WATERMELON with a FORK. (Anybody do that for real?)

Some further bonding for Steve & Gary. Bros before Zoes, that's their motto.

I don't usually bother having my Sims juggle, but Steve had a want, so what the hell.

I think these show the differences between the boys nicely -- Steve's the goofier one, while Gary is slightly more levelheaded (hence why I gave Gary Knowledge as his secondary Aspiration). Gary's looking for a job in the second shot -- no Gamer jobs, but there is a Culinary one. Since Steve expressed an interest yesterday, I go ahead and let him have it.

The boys spend the rainy part of the morning painting. It's an easy way to keep them occupied.

Steve wants to make friends with George, so I have him call George up. He doesn't succeed in his want, but he comes pretty damn close. "You ever try handcuffs? Just curious."

That's oddly sophisticated talk for you two.

As Steve heads to work, Gary gets a call from Nell. "Oh yeah, I totally agree! You can tell a lot about a person from their hat!"

More Yummy Channel -- I doubt the effectiveness of their cooking shows, however.

Later, Gary switches to the sports channel. Looks like a close game.

Poor Steve may be stinky as hell when he gets home, but at least he also got a promotion. Hie thee to the shower, Steve.

After his shower, Steve confirms my worst fears -- he's a Nature hobbyist! Aaargh! However, Gary's bubbles remain unlit. I used my Lot Debugger to try and check on Gary -- only to discover it actually allowed me to SET it. I promptly made his OTH Games. ONE of these guys will be right, at least. (I also made Alice, over at the Liddells, a Film & Literature buff -- I won't be messing with anyone who's hobby was already determined, but since she and Gary never showed me what they liked best, I figured they were fair game.)
And that's everybody! Now that introductions are over, we can start getting into the REAL craziness. . . .
