Garfunkle Family, Monday, Week 2
Mar. 3rd, 2012 05:13 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
My biology teacher was sick this week, which means I came home early all week and thus could get that massive vacation my other family was taking out of the way. Result? A Garfunkle update! And one that has a special surprise! Let's go find out what it is:

We start with Simon and Carey gazing out in wonder at the snow-covered landscape. Those drifts are so high and thick! Can it be. . . ?

Yes it can! No school!
Carey: Woohoo! Snow Day!
I know! Now quick, get inside before you freeze and I get in trouble with the Social Worker.

Simon christens the little kid stove I just bought, figuring the kids should have a way to feed themselves other than leftovers. How will his muffin turn out? Burned to a cinder, I'm afraid. :(

Carey's muffin, however, turns out perfectly. Looking at their respective Cooking skills, I'm guessing you have to have at least a 3 in Cooking to get a quality muffin. Time to get Simon studying!

Samuel: ARGHBLUBblubblub
I don't think Sam's the best choice to fix a broken shower.

Fortunately, the landlord is open to requests to repair, especially if it means getting his rent for this week. (I wouldn't let my Sims pay up until he finished.)

While I appreciate you bonding with your child via snowballs, Sam, you're showing some excellent parenting skills by taking Simon out in this weather in his PAJAMAS.

And now we come to the special surprise -- it's Simon's birthday! I'd completely forgotten, being so obsessed with getting Lucy to grow up. Well, this works out nicely -- now we have a bit of a theme for this week.

Amanda & Carey: *tootle* Happy birthday!
Samuel: Bored now.

Nah, he's just getting into the best position to cheer on his son. Dunno what was wrong with his old one, but whatever.

Goodbye little kid Simon. . .

Hello teenager Simon! Who looks pretty good, I gotta say. He's supposed to have kind of a big nose, but his face is actually pretty balanced. (We'll see if it works out the same for Carey.)

Now that he's all grown up well, I think it's time he got a stats update, like Linda:
Simon:
Personality: 2 Sloppy, 4 Shy, 8 Active, 6 Playful, 5 Grouchy/Nice
Zodiac Sign: Sagittarius
Primary/Secondary Aspiration: Pleasure/Popularity
Lifetime Want: Become Game Designer
Turn-Ons/Turn-Off: Red Hair, Swimwear/Cologne
OTH: Nature
Career: Teen School
I made Simon primarily Pleasure because -- well, I wasn't sure what else to do. He's a character from two music videos, what do you want from me? I nearly made him Pleasure/Fortune, and then I remembered all the problems I've been having with William, who's the other way around. Popularity's probably a better bet. His turn-ons/off are nearly exactly what the game decided -- I just switched a "Formal Wear" one for the redheads. You'll see why when Lucy becomes a teen. :p

A problem with Sim birthdays -- they tend to make you want cake. (Hey, has anyone actually gotten a cake that looks like the one in Sims? That would be kind of cool.)

Amanda: Simon!
Sorry, Amanda, occupational hazard of teenage boys.

. . .Carey, why the hell did you come ALL THE WAY OUT HERE to drop your plate? Strange child.

Now that he's a teen, Simon's gonna be working even more on his skills. He's just got himself some Cooking, and here he picks up a little Body. His LTW may involve the Gamer career, but my personal hope is to get him into the Adventurer career at some point.

What the boys do when Amanda's at work -- skilling and indulging in their Nature hobby.
. . .What, what else should they be doing?

Sam's got a want to befriend Lorraine McFly, so he calls her up on the telephone.
Samuel: I'd really like to watch the movie you're based on one day. . .buy a TV? Brilliant!

Social interaction goodness going on all over the place! Simon and Carey are now the best of buds. The same can't be said of Sam and Lorraine, but they're well on their way, at least.

Amanda comes home from work freshly promoted to Prep Cook (and having gained some Cuisine enthusiasm from me finally picking RIGHT on a hobby chance card), and gets a hug from Carey. Aww.

Simon had a want for a cell phone, so I sent him to the micro mall. True to form, he lost the want upon arriving -- but hey, why waste an opportunity to snag him some new clothes?

And thanks to the changing booths, he can immediately wear his new outfit! Perhaps it's a little goofy, but the other Victorian teen boy choices were worse. At least now he matches the clothing theme of the neighborhood. (Besides, have you seen the music videos? Goofy is practically Simon's middle name.)

And hell, we may as well get the thing we came here for, want or no. Congratulations, Simon, you're unique now! Almost none of my Sims have cells. (Hell, I didn't for the longest time.)

And we end on Simon making good use of that cell phone and making best friends with Linda. Now that's how to start off your teenage years.
Hooray, another child grown up! And next time (which should be tomorrow), Lucy will FINALLY graduate to this stage of Simdom herself! Stay tuned!
